i cant

i cant stop thinking about my ex.

you know the one...the long term loving, heart breaking, life shi(f)ting ex. yes...that one.

its stormy nights sitting in my apartment alone.

its working late and no one calling to make sure i got home okay.

its everyone having plans, making plans, living lives when i feel like i'm just waiting for mine to begin.

i think its loneliness. its moving. its family. its the sum of all things making me wish i could knock on his door and be around someone who just...knows.

maybe i've been too passive. maybe i've spent too much time waiting for things to come to me while the rest of the world goes after the things they want.

call it exhaustion but for awhile, i went after people i thought i loved. i went after the job i thought i wanted. i went after the city i felt was calling my name...

yet here i am. looking back. wishing for things that have already happened to me.

may i suggest?

"the people of the book"

"One of the earliest Jewish religious volumes to be illuminated with images, the Sarajevo Haggadah survived centuries of purges and wars thanks to people of all faiths who risked their lives to safeguard it. Geraldine Brooks, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of March, has turned the intriguing but sparely detailed history of this precious volume into an emotionally rich, thrilling fictionalization that retraces its turbulent journey. In the hands of Hanna Heath, an impassioned rare-book expert restoring the manuscript in 1996 Sarajevo, it yields clues to its guardians and whereabouts: an insect wing, a wine stain, salt crystals, and a white hair. While readers experience crucial moments in the book's history through a series of fascinating, fleshed-out short stories, Hanna pursues its secrets scientifically, and finds that some interests will still risk everything in the name of protecting this treasure. A complex love story, thrilling mystery, vivid history lesson, and celebration of the enduring power of ideas, People of the Book will surely be hailed as one of the best of 2008."

good stuff.

time to begin

its been almost a month since i've been here.

so much has happened that i'm not quite sure where to begin...so i guess the best thing to do is just

start.

"well it's time to begin as the summer sets in
it's the scene
you set for new lovers
you play your part painting in a new start
but each gate will open another"

act of good

so here's a novel idea: ActofGood.org. it's a social outlet to connect cause-related issues with the people that care about them.

ActofGood.org is an internet-based social platform designed to connect people with the causes they care about. It was founded on a passion for philanthropy with the goal of connecting the community for social change. The site provides multiple functionalities that serve as a platform for education, discussion, event management, donation and involvement on both a local and national scope, for organizations large and small. From increasing awareness and expanding membership to providing current information to a targeted audience and facilitating special events, ActofGood.org interactively joins organizations and their supporters. Whether you are a member of a cause, campaign or charitable organization, ActofGood can be used as both a social and organizational tool for doing good.

breathing lessons

hello friends

it's been too long.

my first excuse is that i've been traveling like a mad women on the weekends and working like a mad woman monday through friday. needless to say i'm focusing my energy/attention/spare time in places like getting up in the morning, packing (or unpacking..depends on the day), trying to remember where i live and keeping the daily "to-do" list under 10469 things.

my second excuse is that my jumperskirt of a sister is getting hitched in two weeks. that means i'm on making maps, working out, retouching dogs, working out, hunting for gold high heels, working out, tying bows, working out...you get the picture.

so there you have it. apologies and apologies. i promise to try and be better.
